Mrs. RUSSELL
I have enjoyed teaching for eight years. I started teaching first grade in Nebraska, while my husband was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. We later moved to Hawaii, and I was able to teach third and first grades there. Our timing worked out perfectly when we moved to Josephine because a teaching position opened up the day I called to ask about a job. I have been teaching first grade in Community ever since. The last four years have been great. I am blessed to work with such great students, staff, and families. |
LACEY STOVALL
Lacy is truly a pleasure to have in class. She is so helpful to her classmates and to me, and is very kind to everyone. I can always count on her to make great choices and be an example for others in class. She is a hard worker and a great reader! |

Ms. NYGRIN
I am so blessed to be a teacher here at Community ISD. I have grown up traveling the world with my family; I am an oil field daughter, and experiencing so many wonderful cultures. This is what inspired me to become a teacher.
I spent my first year in teaching in my “hometown” Houston. I was able to teach fourth grade reading and writing.
I enjoyed it so much, reading is a passion of mine, it brings me to a good place. I decided to pack up and move to Dallas to be closer to my family in Oklahoma. Here, I was able to find McClendon. At this wonderful school I spent my second year of teaching in first grade and now currently rockin’ third grade. The staff and families here in Community have become my family and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. I am so excited to continue my path as an educator,
I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world where you can share your love for learning other than the classroom. Teaching gives me a chance to make a difference and guide our students to become leaders of tomorrow. |
TRENT TRAVERS
Trent always has a positive attitude no matter what the circumstances. His smile brightens any room, and he is one of the most compassionate students on Earth. He loves school so much that he only wanted to miss one day for the Collin County Youth Show for the rabbit competition. When asked why he didn’t stay at the stock show for three days, he simply said, “I love school so much. I couldn’t miss a minute of it. Plus, Mrs. Avrit would miss me too much.” Trent’s positive attitude and caring personality are what McClendon Elementary are all about. Here is a shout out to Trent for making a difference and modeling excellent behavior to others.

The success of our organization depends on volunteers! Our children need volunteers in any capacity – no matter how much time you have to give, you can make a difference!
The research is clear – kids at schools with a broad base of involved parents perform markedly better on all kinds of key school measures.
Meetings are open to all parents and staff. We encourage you to attend and to have a voice in making our school the best environment possible for our children.
Please feel free to contact a Community PTO board member to find out how you can help to make a difference!
